Price/Publishing

When choosing how often I was to publish my magazine and what the price would be, I looked back on my market research and even closer into my target market. As the majority of them are students, a lot of them won't have jobs, and if they do they would probably be on minimum wage: -
16-17year olds = £3.64
18-20year olds = £4.92
21+ year olds= £5.93

I decided to do some research into how much other music magazines were, and hot often the were distributed;
Q magazine is £4.99 and published monthly
Rolling Stones published bi-weekly
Both Kerrang and NME and £2.20 and published weekly, that's £8.80 per month.

I have decided to charge £3.50 for my magazine and sell it monthly. This is because a lot of young people won't be able to afford a weekly magazine, and also I have charged £3.50 as it is cheaper than my competitors.

A lot of 17year olds and younger will not be working many hours if any at all, therefore it would be hard for them to buy a weekly magazine, and therefore only a small percentage would want to purchase it as the rest do not have a lot of disposable income, so I decided not to sell the magazine weekly.

When I decided on how often I would sell and how to price my magazine I based it on my target audience.
